Our Mission

The Holiday of a Lifetime scheme was started in Malta in1962 by members of the RAF regiment who were also members of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, when posted to Cyprus in 1964 they continued the scheme from Cyprus. It has come a long way since those early days where the kids slept in tents on the beach and were looked after by the members of the regiment. It has evolved since it’s very early beginnings and is now totally different and is run by the Cyprus Provincial Grand Lodge of the R.A.O.B. in conjunction with the local social services of the province where the kids come from.

Each year we bring ten kids from disadvantaged backgrounds from United Kingdom with either five carers or parents and through donations, events and discounts from local businesses we give them a holiday they will remember for the rest of their lives. This scheme has taken place each year from the start in 1962 with the exception of 1974 when it was cancelled due to the conflict, the R.A.O.B. in particular the Cyprus province are particularly proud of this momentous achievement and look forward to a very special landmark in 2012.

The HOALT Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported us in the past, and hopefully will continue to do so in the future, with discounted services and donations. Without these dedicated and caring patrons this worthwhile endeavour would not succeed. Finally, we would like to express our sincere best wishes to all those who have benefited from this scheme and would welcome their feedback.

Thanks to all for making this the success story that is HOLIDAY OF A LIFETIME.
